The Story of Our Church

The work of God is often accompanied by the prayerfulness of God’s people, and our church’s story is no different. Storyline began to take shape in 2019 but its beginnings really started with a group of pastors in St. Louis who began praying for a new church in South City St. Louis about a decade prior. New churches were sprouting up in the outskirts of St. Louis while churches of old in urban St. Louis were declining rather rapidly, so these pastors began praying Luke 10:2.

Fast forward nine years to January 8, 2019. I am sitting at my desk in my church office in Louisville, KY reading the very words these pastors had been praying for years: “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Upon reading these words, I scribbled down a prayer asking the Lord where he was calling my family to go. Through a series of events, my wife Cherish and I found ourselves prayer walking at Francis Park in St. Louis Hills in July 2019 and felt the Lord leading us to start a new church in the area.

We now find our family living in South City, St. Louis with a mixture of 30 people from Louisville and St. Louis who are united in our hope of God’s grace, committed to living in community with one another, and devoted to reaching our city with the good news of Jesus Christ. We would love for you to join us in the story God is writing at Storyline Church.
